While looking up something else I stumbled across something that surprised me. Am I reading KRS365.205 correctly in that for checking accounts opened after July 15, 1986 the month and year the account was opened has to be printed on the check? How do you handle customers that order their own checks from vendors?

See the beginning of paragraph (2):

All checks provided directly or indirectly by a federal or state financial institution...

As you did not provide them, you are not responsible for their compliance.

But for those orders we place for customers with our normal vendor we have to put that info, right?

Yes...they were "provided" by your bank.
