While reading the new 2013 HMDA GIR, there is a section on page 10 that makes it sound like the FDIC is requiring those regulated by them to complete "reasons for denial" on the LAR.

When did this happen? And can anyone show me where this is in writing in the reg?

Look up the references and then the reference to .203 within that reference and you will find who must report.

Chances are...you are exempt.

The current section on HMDA in the FDIC Compliance Manual (dated February 2013), page # V-9.3, states:

Optional Date

Finally, financial institutions supervised by the Federal Reserve or FDIC may, at their option, report the reasons for denying a loan application.

Given the current nature of this information, I think it speaks for itself.
