It was kinda dead. Which is why I didn't think what it might be at first. Figured it was a shriveled up spider or something.

If ticks go into your purse and die, perhaps you need to think about cleaning it out! Or maybe wear it on your head to prevent future tick visits?

How do you have a possible tick? It's either a tick or it isn't!   if she is not sure of boy vs girl thing.... Well stupid me wasn't thinking on Sunday. We ran a 5k in a forest preserve and afterwards I was getting out of my race clothes and saw a bug on my knee. Not thinking, I just grabbed it, threw it in the toilet, and flushed. It came off really easy, so at first I didn't think about it. But then had a OH DUH moment and checked the rest of me and the hubs and the dogs just to be sure.

.......I've carried it for a long time and never had it accidentally go off... although any day it could happen If you've carried it a long time, you had better test it. Most pepper sprays quit spraying after a time. .....careful who you test it on.
