I'm travelling to Philadelphia to see Styx over Labor Day weekend. (Actually, I'm there for another event, but the concert is included).

The Sovereign State Of Oklahom...
I have no strong feelings either way on Styx. I have seen them in concert (usually with Journey) and its always a decent outdoor concert. I have always thought it was odd though. The band is named after the mythological river defining the entrance to hades. "Styx" makes one think of a hard core, heavy metal, badazz rocker band.....
Yeah, not so much. smile

Hey, even I've seen them in concert! They've played at a local 4th of July festival several times. No personal opinion, it's not my kind/era of music.

Maybe you could try a different XM station? There are a lot of them, right?

I'm not a 14 year old girl either! Sheesh.

Clearly you have not finished writing your summary about me.

That's what I was thinking. If they play that song every day, why don't you listen to a different one? All those rock songs have been etched in my brain from having heard them so many times that I don't even need to listen to the radio. I'd rather hear something fresh.

What are your faves?

Mine:

Alt-Nation
XMU
Lithium
Underground Garage
1st Wave
And of course, the 40's on 4

well, it was the 80s and I'm guessing lots of powder sniffing brought us many of these types of gems from this era...

Mr. Roboto is a brilliant cog in the rock opera machine known as Kilroy was Here. It's right up there with Tommy and The Wall.

8, 25, 26, 33, 35, 94, 118, 6, 7, 9, 10 are the channels i have saved on XM - i usually scan through them several times on my drive in (it is an hour drive), so invariably i get hit with Mr. ROboto - or worse, Jefferson STarships "we built this city"...

You nailed it with this one. My daughter is 14 years old, and thinks One Direction is the best thing ever. She also likes Bieber, but not as much.

Not a big fan of Mr. Roboto, but I do like some of the earlier Styx stuff, up through Paradise Theater.

I can't poke fun because when I was 14 I loved NSYNC and Hanson. Heck, even now Katy Perry draws me in every once and awhile. But I like all kinds of weird stuff too.

I'd dump Styx in with REO Speedwagon as throwaway bands of the 70s. Oh...and Air Supply.
