What forms are everyone using when handling a cash collection item? Is there software out there that anyone is using? We're still usinjg the 4 part form that you are unable to ready by the time you get down to the 4th copy. These come in a book and we hand write ours. Difficult to read! Any input would be appreciated!

It can range any where from sending a check for collection, bank drafts, etc.

Here is a secret - don't tell anyone. smile

This only works for normal domestic checks/drafts on which you absolutely know that your customer's endorsement is proper.

1. Accept the check/draft from your customer.
2. Let them know that you will be entering the check/draft for collection.
3. Have a bank controlled checking account established and deposit the check/draft into the account and process through your normal check collection process.
4. Wait until you are sure the paying bank's midnight deadline has passed and if the check has not been returned (7-10 days is usually pretty reasonable), debit the bank controlled checking account and credit your customer.

It sure beats all the mailing and follow-up and phone calls, etc.

You just have one additional account to reconcile.
