What do you think of this?? We have an applicant that dropped of their home loan application to a branch where we don't have a loan officer. Monitoring information was not completed. Since the app wasn't delivered to a loan officer do we not need to complete GMI based on visual observation or surname since the LO didn't actually have contact with them or does the fact that they dropped it off in person to "the bank" mean we do have to complete GMI?

You only fill in the GMI when the borrower is sitting in front of you completing the application and tells you they do not wish to provide.

Dropped off, whether it's handed to an LO or to non-mortgage personnel, is the same as a mail application. Same with fax, internet and email. We make a notation next to mail that the app was 'dropped off'.

Telephone you will mark what their responses are and leave it at that too.
