Looking for guidance on how to select a bank name. Are there prohibited or required elements? (Beyond OCC "National")

I believe there may be some state rules, but I am not finding anything on a federal level .... yet.

Do not need responses regarding how to make the change, nor trademark searches, etc. Just how to select the words that would be in a bank name.

I am not aware of any Federal guidance/prohibitions, etc.

When we went thru a name change, we hired a marketing firm to help us select the best name for our vision statement and bank history.

The OCC allowed another bank to have the EXACT same name as my Uncle's bank in Florida - both banks were in Florida. That wasn't good, but there was nothing they could do about it. I think it will depend on your state's law.
