When is this notice needed? We have a car loan (over $25,000) to married applicants. The notice is not coming up as a required document (Laser Pro), but I think it's still required. On our previous loan documentation system, it was part of the application.

The spousal (tattletale) notice is not needed for debts over $25,000. This notice is mandated by Wis. Stat. 766.56(3)(b) for all credit transactions governed by Wis. Stat. 421 to 427 (the Wisconsin Consumer Act) which as you know only applies to credit of $25,000 or less.

So if you want to hide a loan transaction from your spouse - go big smile

Precisely! smile

It just never made sense to me. We have to tell the spouse for a $20,000 car loan, but no notice is required for the $200,000 second home loan... Seems a bit backwards.

Reviving this thread, as we are having a lively discussion on this topic in our shop: would a commercial styled loan in the name of an LLC in excess of 25k also be excluded from the tattletale letter to the guarantors spouse since, such a loan to an organization is excluded from stat 421?
