Ditto! although maybe I've been doing this wrong. Since my surgery last week, my days and nights are mixed up - no sleeping going on... Perhaps I should read "The Great Influenza" at work and try these epic novels at home before bedtime....

You may be on to something. My head almost hits the desk all day, then at night I feel wide awake.

I am about halfway through listening to The Lincoln Lawyer and I was wondering if any of you have read any of Michael Connelly's other books and if they are as good as this one?

My sister was talking about The Lincoln Lawyer this weekend. It's good, huh? Amazon has it for the Kindle for $4.99 so I have debating reading it or not.

Thanks Sarah, I think I will pick it up at that price. Even though I have it on cd in the car, I would love to read it also. Sometimes they omit parts to make it fit a certain number of cds

Love Michael Connelly, especially the Harry Bosch series. Most (maybe all) of his books are set in the L.A. area, so that makes them interesting to me, besides the fact that he knows how to tell a story.

Looking at his website, it looks like I have some catching up to do.

Michael Connelly is great! Love the Harry Bosch series. I've read every one. I believe that he has written a second "Lincoln Lawyer" book some time ago, (I forget the name)

The Brass Verdict is another Mickey Haller book. I bought that one as soon as I finished The Lincoln Lawyer - both were very enjoyable.

Thanks. I will be looking for The Brass Verdict. I'm one that also liked the Lincoln Lawyer.

I've always loved, loved, loved that book. It's been years since I've read it. Loved the movie too.

OK, I have to put in a plug for the series I'm currently listening to.

If you liked Hunger Games, give Lauren Oliver's series (starts with Delirium, Pandemonium is the 2nd, and Requiem is due out in a couple of weeks) a try. They are really good. Pandemonium is better than Delirium and the end of the book had me trapped in my car waiting to see what happened! I can't wait for Requiem now!

One of my son's is reading a series that he says is also similar to the Hunger Games. I believe the first book is Divergent, the second is Insurgent. They are written by Veronica Roth

Those were pretty good too. Delirium series is better though.

Two Years before the Mast, by Richard Henry Dana, Jr. (yes I know I read weird stuff)

Dana was a Harvard student who, in 1834, thought going to sea might cure his eye problems. The book is his true story of a fairly miserable experience. It's interesting to read his perceptions of California in a time when it still belonged to Mexico, and was very sparsely populated. He later became an attorney and abolitionist.

The Grimm Diaries prequels vol 1-6. An interesting read, but not very well written presently.

This sounds like an interesting read! With all of the people leaving California, it might be prophetic as well as historical.
