From the Progressive insurance commercials? She's okay, but she needs some voice lessons. I'm already irritated by the fact that it's a weights day, so I don't need any help from my music!

I'm been listening to a lot of Armin Van Buren recently during my runs.

I have two main playlists; for a particular kind of kettlebell session I have a playlist of highly rated songs over 4:35 in length. for running I have a playlist with bpm 90-97 and 180-192

The current workout playlist is a mish-mash of relatively aggressive beats and old or current favorites. Lots of Avenged Sevenfold, Nine Inch Nails, Godsmack, Korn, and Linkin Park, speckled with The Black Keys, Muse, The Black Crowes, and Alter Bridge.

Pulling people out of the ditc...

music mix last night, with a 25 MPH headwind, was me and my riding buddy both cursing at length and loudly for the first 10 miles until we turned around to put the wind our backs...
i never use headphones when on the bike, and rarely if running...i hate people who do as they are not aware of their surroundings, and have no idea if people (or worse, cars) are coming up behind them...seen too many accidents because of headphones.

I think that's a function of specific headphone/earbud design. I recently got a pair of YurBuds, which have a port built into them to maintain environmental sound. It works very well, I've even heard the gear change of bikes coming up behind me while running.

I don't use headphones or earbuds while running or riding my horse, but it's mostly because I don't like dealing with the wire. As it is, I just keep the volume on my phone turned down where I can hear it but people around me can't (unless they're right next to me). If I had wireless ones I'd probably wear those.

I recently won a pair of YurBuds, due to my blazing speed because they gave a bunch away at a 5k. I can hear noises around me very well as long as I don't turn the volume to 11. Very comfortable, too, and they don't fall out very easily. edit: I got curious and looked up the race results, and it was my blazing speed. I was 2nd in my age group.

Thumbs up for the blazing speed!
I got them because 1)my existing running earbuds died at mile 6 of a 9-mile run, 2)I was attracted by the "won't fall out even when sweaty" factor which is a necessity on long runs, and 3) preservation of environmental sounds.
The first time I realized how well that worked I was running on a road parallel to the beach, and kept hearing these occasional cracking noises. Finally realized it was gulls dropping shells on the road.

I'd like to try those, but I like my music LOUD. So I'm not sure how well they'd work for me.

Today's session were hill repeats, and the weather had turned awful just after sunrise, so the temptation was to shift it to tomorrow. However, last night I'd finished reading Ranulph Fiennes' description of running 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents... so, I suited up and ran that freakin' hill!
