The ones that get me are: (1) ask (2) WalMart;

May I axe you something?

Can we go to Walmarks?

out of the frying pan...
I worked at a pet store in college. The mispronunciation that made me want to scream was "Rockwilder" instead of "Rottweiler."

"Chi-who-ah-who-ah" for "Chihuahua" on the other hand, was just plain funny. grin

I probably pronounce it technically wrong, but the one that drives me crazy is the pronunciation of "Ruidoso" New Mexico. In my mind, it's simply "ree-uh-doe-so"......"rue-uh-doe-so" sounds affected and wrong....."ruhr-uh-doe-so" sounds even worse.

Speaking of small towns..... between Victoria and Corpus Christi there is a town called Refugio. Pronounced here as Furio.

Here as in near that town? I've seen that name before and always wondered exactly how it's pronounced.

All y'alls just too persnickety with your Engrish!
smirk

I'm annoyed with most people, most of the time. If I carried a notebook to write it all down, I'd never get anything else done.

Tenses bother me, or the misuse of them. Pluralizing things that aren't plural (I'd like to deposit this in my checkings. Oh really? Would you? Your 'checkings'?). Using made up words, such as some already referenced.

I have issues.

Most of my most annoying are here. But one that drives me crazy, especially when I am there like now,

the GOLF of Mexico.

In Philadelphia, you hear

>payment for pavement
>birfday for birthday
>and even there you hear about buying gas at the Golf station.

A business one I absolutely hate is "setting perimeters" for something instead of parameters. Aggghhh.

Ah, thought of a specific one, fitting with the title too. A co-worker insists I drive a "Hay-une-day" (Hyundai). Grrr.
