Nobody outside of the state of Oklahoma pronounces Chickasha, Wapanucka, etc. correctly. Excuse me? I live in the land of Mazomanee, Oconomowoc, Minoqua, Prarie du Chien, Shawano and Manitowoc. I'm told I can handle Chickasha, etc., just fine. And i'm not saying i could pronounce those correctly..i'm sure i'd scr*w them up royally......people outside of Oklahoma tend to screw our town names up royally.

why would anybody outside of the state of Oklahoma need to pronounces Chickasha,or Wapanucka? Pretty much only when they're going thru them....(not that either is worth a special trip). I hear it mostly on TV, say a college football game, when an announcer is trying to announce where a player is from (and then proceeds to mangle the town names).

So we have someone at work who seems to go out of their way to mispronounce names and words...some can be quite interesting. I guess every workplace has one...
Toyota = Tie-ota Tahoe = Tie-hoe Ford = furd Ice cream = iced cream steak = stick (had me a stick for dinner last night...what?) bowl = bowel (gonna have me a bowel of soup for lunch...huh?) shopping = chopping (heading to the mall to do some chopping...first time i heard this thought i needed to call the police)
Not to mention adding "s" to the end of many singular words:
you need to runs this for me anyone going to the post office? i need to mails something have a good weekends is it fridays yet i'm running to the bathrooms (maybe to get a bowel of soup?) at lunch i'm runnings to the cars wash
It has gotten to the point where i see them coming and i head the other way... You could have summed this all up by just saying ekcetera (emphasis on the K).

I've worked with a few that always want to add an s to Walmart: Walmarts. My mother does that with Costco(s), but she omits the s from BJs. She also likes to axe people a question. My husband still reminds her that she would be arrested for that.

I hate it when people say "over-exaggerating"...um....since "exaggerate" already means to overstate something, why do we need to add the "over"?

We were college touring this past weekend in New England. Saturday evening, on the drive home, we were listening to a sprts station. The man said Thursdee, Fridee, and today! It just annoyed me that he knew to pronaounce the last one correctly. What happene to the days of the week?

Don't forget about Miami, Oklahoma.
A state trooper will tell you it's pronounced My am uh.
Any other pronunciation will get you a bigger ticket.

Digigo to the Walking Horse Selebration? No, even though it is the Walking Horse capital of the world. Just visiting friends on the way to Jacks.

Nobody outside of the state of Oklahoma pronounces Chickasha, Wapanucka, etc. correctly. nor do they care too I give you Grosse Tete, Dupelchain, Paincourteville, Ouachita, Natchitoches, Mereaux, Tchefuncte, and Gueydan as some louisiana entrants that even some in the state can't pronounce correctly
