I have friends that have gone and loved it and have since made it an annual trip...no desire to be on a cruise, ever...

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line

Kid wonder went on one with some friends a few years ago. She loved it as did all the adults that went. A lot of activities for the kids that the adults did not have to be part of.

The Disney Cruise was great for our daughter (and us). She was 11 when we went and there were lots of things for her to do. We had a pager and she would send us a message when she wanted to moves rooms. And their private island was AMAZING!!

We love cruises and were considering taking the kids on one maybe next year.
Thanks for the thoughtful responses.

I've not taken a Disney cruise, but have cruised on Cunard, Celebrity, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. Celebrity and Norwegian have excellent programs for kids. Cunard is OK, but then they aren't a cruiseline that attracts families with small children.

Thanks. How is Celebrity for adults? I've heard good things.

The best for me is cruising out of Bayonne as the parking is great no air fair. The cab ride to and from NYC is almost as much as flying to Florida.

It's very nice. The shows are good, there are lectures/presentations that are interesting and informative, they have some classes if you're interested in painting or bridge. Food is quite good, better than Cunard in some ways.
I went on a Celebrity cruise last winter, and I'm going on another one starting in late November.

Defnitely sounds more sophisticated.
A friend is a retired exec of Royal and he was there when they were developing a lot of their different cruises and he had excellent things to say about Celebrity.

We've done Celebrity for an Alaskan cruise and enjoyed it. It's more upscale than some of the others but not too much so.
And I agree with Deeq on the Disney cruise. Just kill me now.

They've definitely improved. We'd been on a Celebrity cruise, say 8 years ago and thought 'meh'. nothing to distinguish it from Cunard or even Holland-America.
last year's was a great experience and we're looking forward to this year's. So, your friend's work seems to have paid off.

And I agree with Deeq on the Disney cruise. Just kill me now. I did stay FAR AWAY from the pools. Too many kids. Ick

Thanks for the info.
Maybe it's because I waited until later in life (stupidly, I might add) to have a child, but for some reason I just enjoy being around kids of all ages. There seem to be so many people who can't stand kids (no offense; they can drive you nuts) that I guess I feel sorry for some of the kids and try to give them a little attention and time.
Chocolate and vanilla, I suppose.

They were constantly closing the pools and draining the water on the Disney. On Royal Caribbean they just treated it and you waited a few hours

Been on Holland America for two cruises (retirement and anniversary) Totally pampered and spoiled!
I had asked the travel agent about Disney Cruises and being for families with kids only. Their response - it's actually better for adults than kids.
There are oodles of things for kids to do, and they keep the kids pretty much occupied BUT the quality of their entertainment is from Disney (and ABC) and is over the top compared to other cruise lines. Many stars (or stars in training) are on the cruise and give 110% to ensure they make it to the big screen.

I heard on a local radio station this morning that Disney has renovated one of their first cruiseliners. The radio station is having a contest for a family of 4 to win a crusie.
