Mother's Day Survey

First, let me wish to all the mothers a happy weekend.
I heard on the radio that a survey by splenda? voted Claire Huxtable the no. 1 mother on a TV series. Normally, I can come up with several choices just as good. But in this case, it would be hard to argue against her. Definately a strong successful woman who cares for her family.
Who do you think is the best fictional mom (include movies, tv, print, etc.)?
Also why is there so much conflict at times between same sex parent-children? It seems when relations are strained it is always between mother-daughter or father-son.

After seeing Stepmom on Lifetime TV this weekend, I have to vote for both Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts. Their characters really came together to put their kids first.

It's all about the mom on Still Standing! Been there, done that, I understand what you are going through, but despite the fact that your dad is out there, I'm gonna catch you and explain why you shouldn't have done it. By the way, do you want to listen to my Motley Crue records and talk about what happened when I smoked pot?
I heard the funniest line ever on that show Monday for those who watched it, Mom says to neighbor, Cocktail Frank? And he says, My name is Ted and I don't drink in the afternoon. I laughed for 10 minutes. Going to have to use that one next time someone offers me a tiny weenie.

I've been watching reruns on Nick with my 5 year old daughter of The Cosby Show, etc. and I would have to say that the Best TV Mother would be...Danny Tanner from Full House!! Claire Huxtable was good but Cliff Huxtable actually was home and around the kids a lot more. Probably because his office was in the basement but that kind of knocks Claire out for me.

I disagree, most of the tv moms were mambie pambie (sic), and always scheming to get around dad's final say. Everyone knew Claire ruled the roost in the Huxtable household!!

I missed the rest of the scene because I snarfed my pepsi and had to get a towel to clean up the mess I laughed so hard!

Nikko - the problem I have with her is she treats her husband poorly and is always angry. You hardly ever see her happy with anything. I hope I'm not like that. Of course I don't have 3 small children.

I would say the most realistic tv mom/wife is Debra Barone from "Everybody Loves Raymond".
I wouldn't want any of the women on that show-- for a wife or a mother....
Not that the guy's are ones that women would be standing in line for.

The look on his face when he answered was priceless! This is the new MUST SEE TV. Forget NBC, with Frasier and Friends gone, what's left to watch?

They really did come together in the end. I just can't get the earlier parts out of my mind when the mother is so hateful about the stepmother that the child actually says he will hate her (stepmom) if his mother wants him to.
