We just ordered a new supply of the "Shopping for your Home Loan" settlement cost booklets and noticed they are different from the one posted on HUD's site. HUD's of course lists their agency at the top and has a revision date of Dec. 2009. This one indicates "Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection" and has a revision date of Dec. 2011.
Is this the newest version that needs to be used?
Are we allowed to still use our supply of the HUD booklets until they are depleted?

You have the right one. You can still use the one with HUD until depleted last I heard.

The ownership of RESPA was transferred to the CFPB. You should be using their booklet.

Anyone?

I found this one, but it seems to have been prepared by a vendor. http://www.vacu.org/portals/0/pdfs/settlementcostsbooklet.pdf

The CFPB web site refers you to HUD's web site for the settlement costs booklet. Here's the link to the page on HUD's web site where you can find their latest version. http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD?src=...booklet03252010

When the CFPB republished Reg. X, it included language about permissible changes that can be made to the booklet. It didn't say that you had to make them. Perhaps the version you saw was created by a vendor who made the CFPB's suggested changes. See section 1024.6(d) of amended Reg. X for the permissible changes. http://www.bankersonline.com/regs/12-1024/12-1024-006.html

Between the lines
Thanks to all who posted links to other HUD booklets. I am trying to figure out which booklets are current and acceptable.

We have a supply of these and they are still available through Fed. Is this the same as the "HUD settlement costs" booklet? I see some differences but appears to cover the basics. I have a LO that needs a few and I hate to send these if it is totally unacceptable. (Could just print off the pdf in a pinch, but that looks so tacky.) http://federalreserve.gov/pubs/settlement/default.htm

Before someone says it, yes, we are planning to order new ones. This one http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/documents/huddoc?id=DOC_12164.pdf

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I searched through CFPB site for the settlement cost booklet but had no luck. Can we still use the HUD's Settlement Cost Booklet dated Dec. 2009?
