Oh yeah. I don't foresee this getting any better for a while, either.

Just about everyday....
And it doesn't help that I'm not a good sleeper and caffeine doesn't affect me.
::sigh::

I keep thinking those zzzzquil ads are spoofs, a la Saturday Night Live. I don't like sleep aids in general, I don't feel rested after. Mostly I feel groggy. (I have intermittent insomnia and have learned not to try to treat it with meds.)
Exercise is good, obviously reducing stress is good (but hard to do), and for me, just scheduling downtime is good. Even if it's just one evening out of many that I can sit down and do nothing but read (and not work stuff either), it helps.

I absolutely LOVE Valerian Root. No icky after affects...clears your mind of clutter and sends you nicely to sleep almost always!
I only use it if I don't fall asleep quickly...so it's not an everyday thing, but it's a blessing when I need it.

Spark from Advocare has been my saving grace. It does get you jazzed up!
Thank you all for your positive thoughts. I'm glad we're all in this boat together. I am seriously so busy that I can't even imagine having to buy Christmas presents, decorate the house, have the in-laws & family over... PLUS deal with all the Mortgage rules changes.
It makes me just want to scream. I however do not have a sleeping problem but I have been staying up until 2-3am on weekends sometimes thinking about this [censored]. ok... maybe I do have a sleeping problem! Hahahaha.

I have tried Valerian Root, Melatonin and host of over the counter sleep aids. I might as well eat M&M's. At leas they woud taste better. I have tried not eating too late, eating right before bed, not drinking alcohol, getting poohfaced, counting sheep, reading, watching TV, a quiet room, white noise, meditation...... and after years of sleeping maybe one ro two nights per week out of sheer exhaustion, I have come to a conclusion. Ambien works.

Oh yeah. I don't foresee this getting any better for a while, either. I don't either. I told my husband I'd probably be intensely busy until about March. And I think by then, I might just take myself a vacation...

My husband used to work on a 3 week on / 3 week off rotation. You're right - Nothing goes wrong until they get on the plane to leave.

One night I mentioned to my wife that I hadn't been sleeping. She gave me a melatonin pill that I just trustingly popped into my mouth. I spent the rest of the night wide awake wondering about drug interactions and whether I'd be groggy in the AM when I wanted to run and whether I'd oversleep, etc. Horrible night. I was googling melatonin on my phone at 3 AM.

The worst nightmares I've ever had came the night I took melatonin to sleep. Yikes. Never again. I will on occasion take a Benadryl before bed if I think I'm going to have trouble getting to sleep.

Zquil works if Nyquil worked for you - same ingredients. I have a fan in my room for noise and take melatonin 5 mgs every night. It doesn't put you to sleep but helps me to STAY asleep once I get there. Generally I read until my eyes won't stay open.
