I have been unable to locate a specific comment on Unemployment Benefits in KY and if they are eligible for garnishment/levy. They do not have the "XX" notification upon direct deposit, but many comments exist that these are protected funds. I know the state laws can be more restrictive. Can you point me to the KRS if applicable? Thanks!

KRS Chapter 427 identifies "exempt" property in Kentucky, However, that's not really what you need to know.

Please review the exact language in the order you received as well as the instructions it gives to the debtor. Then verify your understanding with your bank's attorney that, in Kentucky, it is the debtor's not the bank's responsibility to assert that property is exempt.

The federal rule shifts the burden to the bank, but only for federal benefit payments.
