Does Michigan Law allow banks to refuse oral Stop Payment orders?

Here is the Michigan UCC language on stop payments. It does not specify. One might argue that if your deposit contract indicates that only written stop payments will be accepted, then that's what counts - but I don't know if that would hold water in court. This is a good question for bank counsel.
