OMG!! Can I have a half dozen pickled (beet) eggs? We used to make those after every Easter egg hunt when I was growing up. Man, those bring back memories.

Hot lettuce was something my grandparents made all the time. Endive leaves (not cooked) over potatoes and they made a sauce (heated) that was poured over it. it was kind of sweet tasing and had bacon in it. Scrapple - you don't want to know. you will

Bacon drippings, apple cider vinegar, and sugar. Mom used to feed that to us as kids. I think she was trying to kill us.
