Hello.

My question is in regards to the information that is available on the NMLS Consumer Access website.

Some of our MLOs are located at the main office while others are located at a branch office.

When we look at our MLOs that are located at a branch office their branch location address, city, state, and zip code are accurate and reflect that branches information. However, the location type states "main" instead of "branch". This should state "branch" instead of "main" correct?

When we called the NMLS customer service # they told us there was nothing we could do to change the type to "branch" b/c of the way we were set up.

Is it wrong for it say "main" when the type of location is a branch?

Thank you.

I don't think customers will mind that is says main instead of branch. Besides, you tried to see if there was a solution to the problem. I think you've done what you can in this situation. Maybe set a reminder to check in with them again in a year? By then there may be some system updates.

But if the examiners review the NMLS consumer access site to ensure accurate information will they have an issue that the incorrect location type is listed?

If they do, show them documentation from the NMLS that it can't be changed.

JMHO, I think what NMLS was telling you is that your bank has established itself as one FI. If you wanted to move the MLOs to a branch then you would need to set up each branch with a separate NMLSR ID. We are small servicer with multiple branches, however, all MLOs are assigned at main office. It has not been questioned yet.

hgliii is pretty spot on. Through the federal NMLS site, just the bank is registered and all MLO's are tied to the bank's number. The state NMLS site (brokers, non-bank mortgage subsidiaries), allows for separate offices (branches) to be licensed through filing an MU2. NMLS only recognizes a branch to the extent that they are separately licensed.
