Does the OCC have anything to say about dormant / inactive deposit accounts (and requirements to reactivate the account), or do they defer to the state on the entire subject? I haven't found anything helpful on the OCC site. Thanks!!

For escheat purposes it is totally a State law issue. For internal control purposes, it is up to the bank.

I can't speak to the OCC, but I know that the FRB exam manual does have some internal control discussions regarding dormant accounts.

They (OCC) mention dormant accounts in a couple of different places. There used to be an ICQ on the OCC's page, but it has been removed. You can see it talked about here - http://www.bankersonline.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=744729

When speaking of fees and interest, in the Deposit Book:

Briefly mentioned in Internal Audit Handbook:
http://www.occ.gov/publications/publications-by-type/comptrollers-handbook/2003AuditHB.pdf

OCC 2003-22 talks about record retention - www.occ.gov/news-issuances/federal-register/68fr25090.pdf

I also found this at the OCC's site - http://www.helpwithmybank.gov/get-answer...s-quesindx.html
