CFPB Staff Evaluations Show Sharp Racial Disparities
by RACHEL WITKOWSKI

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau managers are far more likely to rate white employees highly than minorities, data obtained by American Banker shows. The figures reflect broad personnel problems inside the agency and are likely to give rise to claims that it's failing to uphold standards it punishes others for violating.

This wouldn't have happened if Native American Elizabeth Warren were running the CFPB.

Hypocritical, yes.

Yet, in this day and age who in the world can truly use good judgment to perceive actual racial disparity rather than political racial disparity? It's amusing that a government bureaucratic agency doesn't measure up to the government-prescribed "yardstick."

evaluations covered 778 white employees, 191 African-Americans, 110 Asians and 68 Hispanics.

i wonder how having nearly 4x as many white employees as black, and 11x as hispanic, is factored into this percentage disparity?

Quote:
The CFPB said that it has entered into an agreement with the NTEU on how grievances are addressed. Complaints are initially referred back to an employee's manager to resolve. If they cannot do so, an impartial arbitrator — not employed by CFPB — makes a ruling.

wow, that sounds like a totally effective way to manage staff...

I, personally, at any level, shallow or deep, in my heart or mind, have trouble feeling sorry for the CFPB. No love for them. None, nada, zilch, zip, ....

Did I tell you that I find this amusing?

well, they are union employees, so does it really matter what they are rated?

You are here
We seem to be missing the big picture here out of approx 1150 employees 115 have filed an official grievance.

Can you imagine how busy your HR dept would be if 10% of your employees have filed a written complaint(about anything)

Actually, the article just says that the union has received 115 grievances. It doesn't say that 115 employees filed grievances with the union.

From the article:

Quote:

Employees have filed 115 official grievances with the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) since last August, the CFPB says. If unofficial complaints that haven't yet worked their way through the system are included, the number exceeds 200, according to information obtained by American Banker.

So there could be more filed with HR as well.

We also do not know out of the 1150 how many are union.

I would think that all the Union grievances would be forward

Wonder if they tweeted their complaint like the CFPB has asked consumers to do?

The CFPB is acknowledging the issue:

CFPB to Drop Contentious Employee Evaluation Program
by RACHEL WITKOWSKI

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is planning to eliminate its current employee performance management system after data showed minorities were rated lower than white employees.
