CNN today has an article about the last known civil war widow suffering a heart attack. Apparently she is unable to speak. I pray for her comfort and health.

But the article was interesting. When she was 21 she married a Civil War veteran who was 82 (that give new meaning to a May-December romance doesn't it). Anyway they had one son from that marriage. The marriage lasted five years until the veteran's death.

She then married her former husband's grandson (by a previous marriage).

Does that mean that her son's step-father is also his nephew?

Please tell me that her husband fought for the Union--I don't think I can stand another Yankee looking down at us southern born folks and making in-breeding jokes.

By the way, I wonder if her son will be the last surviving Civil War child.
