Anyone seen it? I'm getting mixed messages that while entertaining, it is not true to the Biblical version. Some people seem to catch this, others dont.

Sounds like it's getting similar comments as the Son of God movie. Too much trying to make things "hip" and such, and trying to appeal to a bunch of people that really don't care if it's anywhere close to "accurate" or not. Assuming you subscribe to the factual nature of such situations and all.

It has Noah and an Ark, after that, let's just say they took Artistic Liberties.

Noah is a movie not a documentary. It's "based" on Biblical events, and I think they have a disclaimer to this fact. I will see it just because of Russell Crowe. And the effects look amazing. I read none of the animals are real but are CGI.

The facts given in the Bible about Noah and the ark would make a movie that lasts about 6 minutes, no?

I'm going to have to hear more about its supposed environmental propaganda slant, which has been bandied about in some reviews, before I'd be willing to actually view the film. I'm not into environmentalism. I don't want to pay money only to become vexed.

The "real deal" may be read beginning in Genesis chapter 6 if it is important to someone to do a comparative study of the film and the actual account.

I read that they agreed to add the disclaimer, but that it was too late for it to be on screen with the movie. It's only on posters and promotional materials.

The thing I worry about is the non-believers who go to the movie thinking it is all true. Having a biblical background and knowing the difference and taking it is entertainment only is one thing, but those who don't may have a hard time understanding that.

Seeing as how the Old Testament is basically storytelling anyway, I don't understand why people get so upset about the authenticity of something like this.

Instead of calling it Noah (to avoid confusion) they should have called it something else rather than either plagiarizing parts of the Bible or fabricating a new story. Such as they did with Evan

The writer portrays Noah a little too dark.

The director did film the movie based on his vision of Noah from the Kabbalah not the Christian Bible. If you read that version his movie is really spot on. I just wish I would have know that before I made up my mind.

Was it properly credited in the "credits"?

I have not seen the movie. I generally do not like movies that are loosely based upon anything.

Have you seen pictures of that sorry excuse for a boat that this Noah builds? I don't think he was paying attention in his naval engineering classes.

I'll see the movie with no other expectation than seeing a movie. There havent been any real "bible movies" since Cecil B Demille bit the dust.

So maybe it could have included a disclaimer similar to :

The guy the authored the article I read noted he believed the director never even told the studio that he was not going to use the Sunday school version many people grew up with. But I think it is hard to believe no producers wondered where the glowing energy people or giant rock creatures came from. But then again this is Hollywood.

At least I get to see the real life adventures of Captain America this Friday!!

I think I'll listen to Bill Cosby's Noah routine again instead of seeing the movie.
