I am not trying to make this political. I think all of us in banking can appreciate this: http://news.investors.com/042914-698787-regulatory-economy-booms-under-president-obama.htm

IE it is not just a recent problem, but the problem has grown out of control.

I've never gotten so many calls from head hunters. Definitely a nice niche to be in these days.

Unfortunately, current employers don't get the fact that we should be making more money. Wait till they have to replace us at current rates.

I learned from a very good compliance officer that at this point, when any head hunter calls me I ask "is this for greater than 90k?". If he does not state anything other than yes, I tell them I am not going to waste my time. Keep in mind I also live in a very low cost of living area.

My second question is, is this for a bank located in New England? If they say yes, I say I am not interested. smile

I only get contacted for jobs where I would have to move cross-country. I have 5 children, an ex-husband, and a husband with a psycho ex-wife preventing me from upward mobility. frown

Dani - you are looking at this the wrong way...first, the move would come with some expense reimbursement...taking care of the pesky ex's would certainly fall under the reimbursement category...now, were there any other issues you need me to address

I wish it were that simple..... smile

My ex is not really a problem, just more like an annoying itch that's needs scatching every so often. It's the psycho ex-wife who will revise the visitation to almost nothing for my husband.

Think the compliance market will still be hot in 6 years? smile

A CU, Where Regs Don't Apply
Think compliance is likely to go away?? smirk

Not many CUs in the headhunting business (or they're just not interested in me! maybe both), too many are too small to even have dedicated compliance people, and the ones that are big enough are far too far away from here.

I mean, I could give up my soul and look at banking, possibly finding a local job, but I keep a pretty good pulse locally and nothing has come up within 100 miles in the last two years worth looking at.

I have been all over the United States. Maybe it is personal preference, or just that there are certain things about every location that appeal to me differently. But imo the standard of living in the NE is very bad. Probably why so many of them leave for Florida.

But in all honesty it was a joke. Kind of. My wife recently got a high paying job in that area. We turned it down for a handful of reasons. She ended up getting a better paying job in a place we both find more desirable. Sort of a win-win.

New England is one of the prettiest places in the US. Especially the coast.

I think it is pretty common for people to feel a certain love for the places they grew up in. I was raised in the Midwest and I love it. Is it for everyone? Certainly no.

I can see how some people would like the New England area, but it is not my thing.

It is sort of like going on vacation to the Caribbean. I would love to live there. Would everyone? I doubt it. I could go on my explanation on why I don't find New England appealing but I have a feeling that someone would get offended.

It is a very diverse region given New England covers 6 states (or 5, depending on whether CT wants to be lumped in) Rural, urban, mountains, beaches, high tech, dairy farms, etc.

I am not offended in the least if you don't like New England. There are many things I don't like about the area either.

Sure it is diverse. But covering 6 states itself does not really make it that diverse. The state I live in is probably as large as all of those states combined.

That said I really should change what I call New England. I am not really speaking as much about New England as I am New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and that area.

My apologies as I did not realize that New England did not comprise these locations until I looked it up.

RH is correct, most people have a special spot for where they grew up. I'm in central NY and the weather and economy around here both pretty much stink... but as I watch the news and see all of the tragic weather issues in other parts of the country there have been many times that I am thankful we don't have tornados, fires, earthquakes etc... We do however get flooding at times and oh yeah snow! I guess it's all in what your used to. Now if the phone would ring for a CO job in south Florida I'd be all set smile
