What pitfalls are there in considering nontraditional types of credit (i.e. Utility, rent, etc) when the applicant does not have credit or limited credit.

We are considering this as a way to better reach low-to-mod income folks.

Other than potentially designating a pool limit for these types of loans, nothing comes to mind to me.

Many of the larger banks have been successful in reaching this segment of society through the support of nonprofit partners being the lender, rather than attempting to modify loan products and underwriting standards in house.
