Is this for real? What customer gives a bank teller $2700 more in cash than she wants to deposit and asks for the $2700 back?
The CFPB has reportedly responded to one bank that called with a similar question that the correct way to report it is to report the entire $20,800 cash in, breaking it down into $18,100 on line 24(a) and $2,700 on line 25(e), regardless of what the debits and credits to cash say.
Although the customer may be two kings short of a full deck, the Bureau's suggestion makes sense, since it reflects the amount of cash that crossed the counter.
