I'm not, but I recall this being discussed in the past. I believe the pop-up is related to an avatar that is hosted on an MSN communities site. I'll try to track down the prior discussion for you.

I got it when I entered the MISFIT thread! I wasn't getting it yesterday, so it must be one of the last three poster's avatar that is causing this. We have had this problem once before....

I spoke to soon. Now I have received two different MS pop-up boxes. One to download something or another and the other one was for a log-in. Go figure

I'm getting it also and figured it was someone's avatar. I'm now getting the red 'x' from elena. Could it be her?

Her avatar is from MSN....so the answer is probably "yes"! Who wants to break it to her?

In the last forum I was in, as soon as Paragon's avatar opened a pop-up also opened.

No pop up yet, but I've been seeing elena's red x for a couple of days. If she were going to the conference we could make her eat pizza with us.

It is the picture that someone adds to their profile, like my widow full of flowers or Jac's picture of his dog...

Sorry Guys, but Don't Hate, Appreciate! I'll ditch the avatar and try something else later. Guess I could go back to the picture of the wench.....

It's really doubtful that anyone's avatar could result in a pop-up, but it is possible that you now have an advertisement type virus on your PC or within your network. It happened to me about two months ago - pop ups started to appear when I visited sites that I knew for a fact did not use them - I got rid of it - it being files on my PC that somehow were incorporated within MS Explorer.

Paragon,
It is true though. A few months back we had the same issue arrise with another member who used an avatar originating from an MSN site. When you went into a thread where the user had posted a message, you received a pop up box that wanted you to subscribe or download something to access a ".net" program. I know I am not saying this right, but it is not an advertisement per se for the lowest mortgage rates, it is to get you to enlist with some service for MSN. ??

Someone help me out with describing this.

Well, there are viruses (trojan) that will link to a website and you'll get a ton of popups. A friend of mine had one of these on her laptop not too long ago, it took me about an hour to get it cleared up...

It is for MSN Passport. I'm not crazy... this is what it is asking you to sign up for.

That a new one to me, but sounds logical - in other words, MSN has found a way to use a pop-up when you link an image from an MSN site to another site - what cold!

I don't link from an MSN site, but sometimes my avatar is set to appear a few seconds after someone logs onto a page on this site, but the avatar is not connected to any pop-ups or I would also see pop-ups.

The bottomline - MSN has found another way to push MSN by using the link to images - but does that mean that more than the person linking is subjected to pop-ups? That does not sound fair or correct, so we may have to kill anyone that does that.
