I am being asked to send this question out regarding Dormant Notices. Is it State specific or is there a standard amount of time that we are required to continue to send Dormant Notices to the address that we have on file but is no longer a valid address? My question is if we have exhausted all our resources in trying to locate this account holder, and we continue to receive undeliverable mail, why in the world would we continue to mail it out and waste postage? We probably would need to try a few months delivery, but is there a limit?

Undeliverable mail is a one and done proposition. Place an alert on the account appropriately so that if anyone at the bank has further contact with the customer that they obtain a current address. No State requires you to send mail that is not going anywhere. The longer you do, you increase the chances of identity theft.
