Our current employment application asks if the candidate has been convicted of a felony or finished serving a sentence in the last 7 years. I believe we should ask if they were ever convicted of a felony (due to the FDIC rule requiring us to obtain their approval before hiring if crime involved dishonesty, etc.) HR believes that employment laws say you can only ask about the last 7 years. True?
