I sometimes am 'that' person...just to be mean.

over here is various bacon wrapped meats, different cheeses and sausages, chips, dips, etc.

over there is the veggie tray that JUST RUINED THE PARTY!!!

As a child, I was an extremely picky eater. As I got into my twenties, I discovered that I like almost EVERYTHING (and, coincidentally, that I enjoy being contrary for the sake of it sometimes!). Organs, vinegar-y stuff, etc. -- pile it on my plate!

But...

There's something about frozen vegetables (especially those bags of mixed vegetables you can get from the store) that has repulsed me since I was a wee Smee. Especially those little orange/yellow chemical cubes they pass off as "carrots." Blegh.

This super weird, needlessly complex, wet layered salad, a longtime family "favorite" for holidays. It is layers like:

Mayo
Green beans
Mayo
Lettuce
Okay you can stop right there I'm grossed out too much mayo
More mayo
Bacon Bits
Lettuce
Cheddar Cheese
Mayo
Green Beens
Mayo
Something deep fried and crunchy
Mayo
Bacon Bits
Cheddar Cheese

WHAT is going on with that wet mess? And, it's served in this specialty glass dish so you can see all the layers and marvel at its grotesque form.

Worse, everyone in the family has gotten it into their heads that this is my favorite dish. I don't know where they came up with that.

Someone in our family brings that too!!! But they put in peas rather than beans.

Raw oysters, hands down, but I can only say I tasted one, it did NOT get eaten!

I bring the veggie tray because I love raw veggies. But I HATE cooked carrots. BLAH!!

I should add...the worst food that I have ever eaten is a potato dressing. It's passed down from our family in Fermanaugh County, Ireland. My great-grandmother made it EVERY year at Christmas and my family members raved. The consistency made me gag. And now my mom makes it every year in honor of grandma.

7 layer salad can be a mayo nightmare. But it should be peas, not beans within the layers.

If it's done correctly it's pretty good.

I agree on the mixed veggies and the weird "carrot" squares.

The only 7-layer I'll accept is a dip consisting of refried beans, sour cream, guacamole, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced jalapeno, and salsa.

Totally agree. At our annual trailer park white elephant post-Christmas gift exchange, someone always brings those. I made the mistake of popping one in my mouth, instead of nibbling. Gag!!

Burkemi, you're right on buttermilk. My grandmother drank that. So disgusting.

This thread has the unintended effect of making me hungry. Can't find anything mentioned that doesn't sound good.

Cow tongue! And Brussel Sprouts. Both make me gag!
