She was so funny. I remember her on Ed Sullivan and with Johnny Carson. I wish she hadn't done all the horrible plastic surgery, because younger people will remember her as some sort of freak.

My opinion of her changed a lot after she appeared on Celeb Apprentice. (And not for the better.)

I used to love her when she would guest host for The Tonight Show. I think she got very mean these last few years, but it's still a tragedy.

Like her or not, she made way for women in Comedy, broadcsting and business. She was, in her own way, a bit of a pioneer.

Barbara Walters was interviewed tonight on the news. She was a personal friend of Rivers and commented that, in person, Joan was not the badazz that the public expected her to be. As BB1 said, she was a pioneer in a male dominated arena marking the way for the likes of Tina Fey and all the rest of today's comedians. RIP to, as Ed Sullivan first introduced her, 'little Joan Rivers'.

Not really, they are both raunchy.

I have fond memories of watching her on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson with my grandmother. She made my grandmother laugh so hard & as a little kid I thought that was great. As I became an adult I loved the way she poked fun at everyone in Hollywood but in the end she always took the last shot at herself. She knew how to laugh at what everone in Hollywood takes way too seriously and she knew how to laugh at herself.
One girl in my office said it perfectly (IMHO)_ In a world that is so obsessed with being politically correct Joan Rivers said whatever she wanted and did not apologize. That is a lost art these days

She was funny and she was a overboard sometimes, but she was who she was and did not pretend otherwise. Sometimes she made me laugh and sometime, I was embarrassed by some of the things she said about herself and others, but my thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

Her autopsy is inconclusive on why she died.

She was an industrious woman of faith and charity. We need more like her.
