Seeds and pellets. Our pet is an African Grey parrot. She generally eats like a bird.

They don't...why? Because I put up a baby gate to keep them out of the cat's litter box and because they are now trapped in a fence when outside they don't get to eat small mammals and other random objects anymore. Or roll in week old dead things. I fear this is what they miss the most! And I miss the least!

Twice her own weight every day?
How old is she, Jim?

7 1/2 years old. Lifespan is to about 50, so she'll likely outlive Lynne and me.

Neat, that would be a cool pet to have.

That was one of the biggest reasons we didn't get a ball python a while back - we decided we'd rather not be trying to find a retirement home that allowed snakes. I think parrots are very cool.

My GSD eats bees (and yellowjackets, and sometimes flies). It's hysterical to watch, though we do try to keep her from eating too many honey bees. They sting her, but she doesn't swell up or anything, and she goes back for more. I figure it's kinda like jalapeno poppers - hurts so good. The donkeys eat poison oak, which is good, except that they also really like to cuddle when there's a human around...I'm sure you can do the math

Jim- I too have an African Grey.
She's 21 years old (I've had her since she was 11 weeks old). Mine eats almost anything I give her- especially likes nachos with hot sauce and sour cream. Also loves waffles with maple syrup. She actually asks for more after eating either of those.

My husband and I generally have cheese dip (white) and chips on Saturday night while watching our British sitcoms. Our old basenji and our younger sheltie (pictured left) will only eat the chips if there is dip on them. Our female sheltie doesn't care and if you toss her one she'll catch it mid-air.

Both of our daughters have said they'll take in our parrot after we are gone. Both of them love her too.
She is quite vocal and has a very extensive vocabulary (all clean) and is very entertaining.

My Yancey used to eat crayons. She had rainbow poop for years, when my sons were young they left crayons all over.

My dog used to eat stuffed animals, or I should say rip them to shreds, but every now and then we would find remainders in the yard!

In trying to trap a bobcat that is killing our chicken population, we kept trapping our JRT puppy all weekend. Apparently cat food and marshmallows are irrestible to puppies. Bobcats can resist though. Pretend you're filming another Police Academy sequel. Oh sorry, that's how you would trap Bobcat Goldthwait.

my sister had a weasel get into her chickens ... slaughtered the whole bunch. She said it was like a scene from Saw in the coop
