With Canada going so far north it is basically snowing everyday some place in Canada.
The winter predictions for my area of WI have a week long period from Jan 1st they say will never be above -30 degrees.
I really hope that does not happen. O_O

I would take -50 over 110 any day! You can always put on more clothes, you can only take off so much. Other way around - you can always cool off in the pool or a/c but doing anything outside in clothes heavier than a sweatshirt gets awkward. I detest having to be all bundled up in coats and gloves.

I can't play golf in freezing temps, ice and snow. I can play all day long, and do, in 110 degree weather.

I hate cold weather. Anything below 20 is miserable. I enjoy sitting inside watch the snow, but I seem to get chilled easily. My fingers get very painful when they're cold, the results of a few experience of near frostbite. On the other hand, my wife hates hot weather. Above 85, and she's headed inside.
It should be a challenge to pick a place to retire.

Even though there are a few silly tournaments, cold weather is very hard on the equipment. The thin metal club face on the woods can be damage, and it also can make your balls brittle.

There is an old joke about the peanut vendor during a cold New York winter that comes to mind.....

I love spring, summer, and fall, and generally dislike everything about winter, but there is one nice thing about 4 or 5 months of cold dark isolation, I know this sounds bad, but, a break from the neighbors. We live on a street with a bunch of retired people that think we want to hear about what is going on in the neighborhood (which is usually nothing). We are always in a hurry, but people insist on stopping us to fill us in on the latest mind-numbing neighborhood gossip. But for 4 or 5 months of the year, when eveyone is trapped in their houses, we are free to come and go as we please, no idle chit-chat, no phony waves, no fake admiring of their landscaping, no pretending to like their stupid dogs that poop in my yard, it's a nice break.

Actually, you should come live in my neighborhood and I'll take yours. I miss neighbors that actually care about each other and have fun together. It's a dying breed.

Plus having a lot of retired folks in your neighborhood or busy bodies ensures that nothing untoward is going to happen without them witnessing whodunit!

This made me laugh...and i can relate, to a degree.

I actually like most of my neighbors and am nice to all of them, even the ones that let their dogs make in my yard. And it's true, they are a good security system, as they don't miss a thing. In fact, they were so complimentary, that they almost seemed pleased that I finally traded in my rusted-out 2002 Hyundai this summer. So I'll keep Waiving and smiling for a few more months.
It's just nice to re-charge over the winter.
