I agree. Except for those people that have horrible things going on in life, we can choose to be grumpy or not. You pick out your clothes every day, and you pick your attitude too.

I try to remember that I'm alive, I'm healthy, I have a great wife, and I have a job. I don't sweat the small stuff.

What attitude I was born this way, take it or leave it

Today was a no good horrible bad day. And I let it get to me.

Happy to see this thread this morning. I was out yesterday with a sick-ish kid all day then emergency baseball practice (who knew such a thing existed) then parent/teacher conferences that ran 45 mins late followed by an unrestful nights sleep. So yeah my attitude this morning was less than stellar. Thanks for helping me realize only I can fix my attitude this morning.

I was fighting a bad mood this mornign when the manchild got to stay home and I had to come in to work. Then I kicked myself in the rear and reminded myself that I get to work in the small town where I live AND it's harvest days...that means a funnel cake stand right outside the bank! WOO HOO!

Thanks for posting this Sun Shine Lady! After the tongue lashing I got last night at my booster meeting, I really needed this.

I used to be the same and am so much better now. I only "flash" if my department is being criticized. I still have trouble with that one. Usually I'm the one that says "Is this the worst thing that can happen to you today"? or "If this is the worst thing that does happen to you today then it's a good day" or "Will it be important 12 months from now? Will you remember this?".

Stems from losing a loved one unexpectedly. That's the big one and the rest is "Don't sweat the small stuff and it's all small stuff".

I was thinking about how you made out last night. I do hope you came out in tack and offered to let the know it alls run the booster club by themselves!

I would have loved to, but I handled myself with the utmost professionalism. It ended up being only 3 parents who had the beef and criticized me in front of 50 other people. So I handled it like I would in a meeting at work. Gave the facts, and stated flatly that I have a job I get paid for and would be more than happy to hand over my duties.

I felt horrible, but it all works out in the end. I've gotten about 10 text and Facebook messages from the "spectators" telling me how much I am appreciated, that I'm doing a good job, and that they support and agree with me. And both band directors are on my side.

Whaaat no spreadsheet in 4 colors followed up by a bar graph and a pie chart followed by a 97 page summary?

I did have a spreadsheet, but no graphs or summary. And I was totally prepared to quote the by-laws. I chose to be the bigger person.....this time.
