That is pretty cool but they literally scare the compost out of me. Anything with a hard outer shell with fluttery wings to fly scares me into the fetal position ..... That includes LadyBugs. They are pretty from a far but so scary up close

PATS...about the most scared a bug ever made me WAS a beetle...it was a screeching beetle and it attached itself to my thigh (I sat on it's stump) and screeched...scared the bejezzes out of me!!!

We've got an abundance of chipmunks, shrews and squirrels up here, all WAY too big for your entomology crèche.

Some people call them pill bugs. They're little beetle type bugs that roll up into a ball when the get scared.

I think some call them pill bugs, Truffle.

A woodland creche would be adorable though. My tree theme last year was woodland. Lots of owls, squirrels and deer. So pretty.

The fire ants down here have made roly polies extinct. Along with horny toads and a whole host of wildlife.

I had an icky creepy crawly in my boot last night that would've matched well with all this bug talk.

It was a big black beetle. We'd gone out to hike and shoot my pistol so we were out in the woods. I felt something in my boot so I took it off and saw the bug. I screamed...my husband laughed! It was gross!

Got those. And slugs. Lots and lots of slugs.

I want the silver one!

There is another kind that's flat and their legs stick out instead of being a true roly poly...those ones are creepy. They look just like what a squished poly would look like.

Maybe they are killer zombie roly polys.

Alright, now that I am back to BOL (thank you, new job!) I will participate again! Yay!

I still have the pink flamingo ornament I got the first year (along with a regular one). Somewhere... I loved that thing but we've moved twice since then and who knows where it ended up. I'll find it in 10 years I'm sure.
