Got any personal questions you would like me to answer in my own inimitable way?

Dear Bankguy -

With inflation apparently starting to rear its head, the recovery solid, but not yet having produced the number of jobs that we Americans would like to see (yet unemployment still historically low), and with it being an election year, do you think the Federal Reserve should begin raising rates? Quickly, slowly, not at all? Wait another few months? I would really appreciate your opinion...

Thanks!

Alan G.

Dear Alan G.--

Raise it. Lower it. Keep it the same. Shut down the darn thing. It's all the same to me. Just don't mess with the price of Schlitz and we'll all get along just fine.

Sincerely,

Bankguy

Dear Bankguy,
How on earth can I get a blood stain off the ops manager's chair and carpet?
Thanks,

Dear Almost There--

There is no proven method to get an ops manager's blood off of chairs or carpeting. You can however cover the op manager's blood with the blood of your IT guy. IT guys are never there when you need them so no one will ever miss him. After a while, the bank will merely upgrade to "IT Guy 3.1." Before your next tirade, I recommend you read my book "How to Handle Pesky Office Problems Without Leaving a Trail." I hope you have learned a lesson.

Sincerely,

Bankguy

P.S. Bankguy can only answer 1 or 2 questions per day.

Dear Bankguy,

One of my most challenging lenders has taken quite an interest in my car. This morning he was insistent in finding the source of some fluid leak. Yesterday I had to rip him a new one . Is he doing this a some sort of penitence for his transgressions?

I'm not BankGuy, and I don't play one on TV. But why remove the stain. Let it be a sign to the replacement. Your department will do much better for it.

Have you tried soaking the blood up with currency?

I don't really want to touch it, Jac... He was a biohazard himself.

State of confusion
Bankguy -
I need some good comebacks for the answer "because that's the way we have always done it" and "we have never gotten written up for it before". I am rather new to compliance and am already fed up with these comments. I will take all answers from all posters!!

How about:
The Captain of the Titanic always sailed his ships the same way, and you know what happened there...

Mr. Pain

Dear Pain--

Just tell him that you saw his biggest customer having lunch with a lender from your biggest competitor. Tell him they were laughing and having a few drinks. Inform him that as you moved closer you saw them drawing plans for some business venture on a napkin. At the bottom of the napkin you saw this scribbled: Business venture with Michael Dell investing $1.2B; need matching funds.

That'll give him a fluid leak to worry about.

Sincerely,

Bankguy

P.S. You may want to buy a package of Depends before you talk to him.

Dear Beagles22--

Just tell them that Ted Bundy always did it the same way too and was never written up for it, that is, until he was.

Sincerely,

Bankguy

Dear Chicagoguy--

How should I know!? Why aren't there more "dolls" in the NFL? Surely, they could play for da Bears.

Sincerely,

Bankguy
