Is it necessary to keep original wire transfer forms that include the customers wet signature if these same documents are scanned and stored electronically?

Can wire forms be retained in electronic form or does the original form have to be retained?

What is the records retention for original and/or electronic forms?

I assume this is an internal form. This could depend on your state's record retention requirements.

we scan and keep the scanned copy per wire retention guidelines. The original form signed by the customer is retained by the branch for 1 year (or so they say).

As noted, you need to familiarize yourself with your state's record retention requirements. They could say anything.

As for BSA, you are not required to keep "the form." You are required to keep the information listed in the regulation for 5 years. How you keep it is how you keep it; i.e. microfilm, fiche, electronic, paper, they really don't care as long as you can produce it in a reasonable period of time.
