Would this be considered a free small business checking account? 100 items free per month; .40 per item in excess? I just read Blair Rugh's email and this made me think...Thanks!

I just read the article also and I would not consider that a free account because fees are being charged if they go over 100 items. If there were not limitd, then I would consider that free. After reading that article, I would be hesitant to use the word free in anything. We do not use it at all.

I had this come up in my old job when dealing with marketing people. My stance has always been that if it's only "free to an extent" or "free until...", it is not a "free" account.

With more focus being placed on UDAAP and small businesses, I would not be comfortable calling such a product "free business checking." That's just speaking from personal experience.

What about a closing fee charged if the account is closed within 60 days?
