Tomorrow I get to see my son in 'The Wizard of Oz' as the tin man. He told me that last night they did a free preview for military families from Ft. Knox and it was amazing. He's pumped and ready to go and said he'll miss it when it's over next weekend.

That's great, Skittles. I think I'd be petrified to be on stage in front of a big crowd.

Thanks guys - the play was amazing - all of them. There was a cast of 111 performers - both adult and children - and many were professionals. Even the dog that played Toto did well (imagine a 3 pound yorkie). They've got four more performances and then they're done.

My stepson was just accepted to all 4 colleges he applied to cool He is super smart - very proud of him!

(But, like a lot of super smart peeps, he sometimes lacks common sense - his father and I have done the palm to forhead routine many times)

Congrats. If he's like the kids of some of my coworkers, he'll want to go to the most expensive of the four. I don't think common sense develops until sometime later in life.

He just informed us last night that he decided to apply to University of Oregon (we live in MI - and the 4 schools he applied to were all in-state). The cool thing is they called him to apply and waived all app fees. More power to him.

My son was late to school today. I wouldn't normally consider this "bragging" but the reason he was late makes this mom proud. There was a bad accident that happened at a busy intersection and no first responders were there yet. Since my son has his basic EMT national certification he was able to jump out and assist until the ambulances got there. He said the person had a possible broken neck and was bleeding. He carries a bag in his truck with basic medical supplies so he had what he needed. At 17 years old, he is so focused on becoming a firefighter and paramedic and I'm glad he knows what to do in a situation like this and was able to help someone in need!

My oldest daughter made the Director's List at school for achieving high standards in attendance, reading counts, academic (honor roll - straight A's), and social growth and wok habits.

So proud of her!!!

That is awesome Busy Bee. I am an EMT and volunteer in our small community. I applaud the young people for considering this area and going for it.
The small communities in our area struggle to keep their ambulances in service due to the lack of volunteers.

Tell him awesome job!

My daughter is in college majoring in elementary education. She has been leaning towards teaching special education and this past week has been doing class observations at a school for autistic children. She really likes working with kids in general and specifically with special needs kids. I am very proud of her.

This is the first time I have gotten to write in this thread!

My daughter had her 2 month check up the other day and did such a good job with her shots. She only cried for a few seconds and then was perfectly fine after that! I think it was harder on me then her!

My 14-year-old made White Band (band 3) for Jazz Clinic on auxiliary percussion. I think he also made clinic for jazz piano, but still waiting on clarification from his director. He's the only Freshman percussionist to make it out of all of East TN! smile

My 12 year old son shot his first buck today. I was sitting with him in the woods. He waited patiently for the buck to step into a good shooting lane and when I gave him the word he sqeezed off a perfect shot. It was an old 8 point buck with many battle scars. Some don't understand, but for us deer hunting is a right of passage and a way of life - school is actually closed the first two days of the season.

Congrats TJ and to your son. Our kids get the first day off for Deer Season.

I just got back from Deer hunting. I didn't get one, but the son got his first deer (He's 16, been hunting with me 4 years, but this was the first year I wasn't standing by his side). Nice big 6 point (would have been 8, but the rear tines had broke off during rutt). Pretty proud pappa, he got it with one shot.

I was on the next ridge over, could see one coming up to him. Before going into the woods, his gun jammed, (It was my grand fathers Ithica 3700 featherlite 12 gauge pump, and if you don't pump it with authority it will jam).

Well, I heard him shoot the first shot, heard the gun shuck, then no more shots for about 20 seconds. I was thinking, dang gun jammed again, but then I heard the next shot and a resounding "YEAH!", like he had just struck out the last batter in the bottom of the 9th to win the world series. So, I figured he must have got it.

So I walk over to where he was standing and he points to the bottom. He said there were two deer, a Buck and Doe. His first shot was at the doe, but he missed, and then he saw the buck and shot the second time.

So, we will be having "beef' this winter. smile
