Many Banks and CUs in our area are open and take the day after Thanksgiving off instead. We choose to be closed. Just curious what others are doing.

We are closed on Veterans Day, however for the past two years our bank has offered 1/2 of the employees the day before Veterans Day and the other 1/2 the day after Thanksgiving off. This is only the second year, and I don't think they are going to do it going forward--we have new senior management.

1/2 our employees get Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the other half the day after. For those long-term employees it's just switch the day every year. This year I get Wednesday so I am taking Monday and Tuesday as vacation days.

We are closed but I am debating working. I usually get a lot accomplished that day.

Just currently struggling with how much of my personal time I sacrifice to the job. May do something around the house instead, have lunch at school with my kids, see if I can remember the location of the gym we belong to....

We are closed. Daughter and I are going to the cemetery at 7:00 to put flags on graves. Fingers are crossed - it looks like the predicted snow isn't going to happen now.

Closed. Never heard of the trading for black friday thing, but would take that trade, especially if the 11th is in the middle of the week.

...except this year. it worked out nicely because my niece has her hs playoff volleyball game tomorrow about 2 hours away and now i can make a day trip and see it

My old CU used to do this. We used Veterans and Presidents Day as "Closed for Business, Open for Learning" days

However, we were given 2 floating holidays to use for other days off during the year.

Columbus and President's for us...no floaters though.

we have also been opened Presidents and Columbus days, but starting next year are closed Columbus...still awaiting the eventual acceptance of Presidents somewhere down the road

as long as you don't get a day of learning!

I personally prefer having Veteran's Day off. I have many family members who served, including my son, and to me it is a sign the country remembers what sacrifices were made by them.
