Stuffing when it's in the bird; dressing when it's cooked in a pan.

And proper broth control prevents regular bread dressing from getting soggy.

OOOOOOklahoma
I suppose my dressing is about 2/3 cornbread and 1/3 dried white bread. My mom makes her dressing with so much sage it's green! A little too much for me but I do add quite a bit of rubbed sage.

I'm just sayin'... I have never heard it called dressing, even when it's served as a side dish.

If someone ever asked me to bring dressing for dinner, I'd ask "Ranch, Italian, or 1000 Island?" I am not even kidding, that's what I'd think.

Until now, of course. wink

Same here Baconboy - the cornbread dressing seems dryer than the bread dressing - at least the way my mom made it (now my sister). YUM - and I'll have it at Christmas since I won't be there for Thanksgiving.

Yankee here; we call it stuffing no matter how it's prepared.

Chicken in a can!

http://www.seriouseats.com/images/20090430-cannedchicken-shloop.jpg

The scary thing is that I saw it at the store this morning. It was pricey at $10.18 for a 3+ lb. chicken.

Cornbread dressing can be dry, but it can be not dry too....depends on the amount of chicken broth...I don't like it dry, but I don't like it soupy either...it must be PERFECT! smile

Agree. Soupy is just as bad as too dry.
