I don't get dressing made out of anything but cornbread. I don't want to eat dressing made out of bread. Right? Soggy white bread. And one year they put FRUIT in it.

Dressing? In my neck of the woods, we call it stuffing. Stuffing when it's in the bird; dressing when it's cooked in a pan. And proper broth control prevents regular bread dressing from getting soggy.

And proper broth control prevents regular bread dressing from getting soggy. I'm just sayin'... I have never heard it called dressing, even when it's served as a side dish. If someone ever asked me to bring dressing for dinner, I'd ask "Ranch, Italian, or 1000 Island?" I am not even kidding, that's what I'd think. Until now, of course.

"Stuffing" sounds like a Yankee word to me.....not that that's a bad thing....i just never heard that word (except for Stove Top commercials) growing up around here.

Same here Baconboy - the cornbread dressing seems dryer than the bread dressing - at least the way my mom made it (now my sister). YUM - and I'll have it at Christmas since I won't be there for Thanksgiving.

Yankee here; we call it stuffing no matter how it's prepared.
