That's a common thing for cats. If you haven't found them yet, pet stores have drinking 'fountain' dishes for cats that I'm sure would work for your whippet:)

Patches has totally recovered her sight. We are so thankful. We are still keeping her inside and watching her but she's back to her old bouncy self. It's nice to see.

Went to let Ms Patches out this morning and she is walking sideways and falling down. She has a tilt of her head to the left side. Bless her heart. Hopefully the vet will tell us that it isn't bad. Poor thing is now over 16. Please think good thought for this baby of ours.

Patches is the one that the other dogs "won't let her play in any reindeer games". They intimidate her and bully her so she gets to live inside. It's bad when you have three constantly vying for the alpha position (2 Rotts and 2 Mastiff) and Patches not caring.

Same thing happened to our dog who is 13 YOA. Vet called it Old Dog Syndrome. We were fortunate in that it only lasted about 4 weeks with no lasting results - sometimes the head tilt remains. We had to keep him pretty still and in a low light room. Vet equated it to a vertigo attack in humans. Hope Ms. Patches gets along well and quickly!

Thanks everyone. Good to hear JSD! We can use our mud room for that. It is very cool, quiet and low lighted. Even at 16 she still bounces around like Tigger.

About the same. The vet couldn't get her in until late this afternoon. But we were encouraged that she went out easily this morning and did all her business and found and drank out of the 5 gallon bucket we keep outside for all the girls. Thanks for asking. Hopefully good news this evening!

Thanks for asking! About the same. The doctor said they really don't know what brings on these inner ear issues. Said that he had to put his schnauzer down for it once because of how bad it was. Patches isn't near that bad, but she has it enough that she walks in circles and has a hard time eating.

They gave her a shot of steroids and another of antibiotics and an appointment in 2 weeks. Please keep her in your thoughts.

It was kind of funny last night. She was trying to get a drink out of the girl's outside 5 gallon bucket. Well, there is Canola growing on our land and there are bee boxes in the field with a gazillion bees, which is to help with pollination. We are in a very, very bad drought so all the bees are coming to our house looking for water. I have bowls and plates everywhere for them. You should have seen us - Patches was trying to get a drink and we were surrounded by hundreds of bees. I kept trying to scoop all the bees out of the water and trying to keep her from swallowing the bees and she's wondering what the heck is going on. I'd scoop and she would pause, repeat..... We looked like Keystone Cops!
