Keep in mind, the whole ordeal may not be video taped. If someone told me to get off a plane, sorry, but I would get off the plane. Not sure why people who break rules and regulations are allowed to disrupt others who followed the rules. (the other passengers) I am sure a more in depth story will come out. I live near a wildlife refuge and this happens all the time!! A couple months ago, there was a man who SAT DOWN on the ground in front of a large cow buffalo. He's lucky the buffalo didn't charge! People are so dumb.

As someone who travels by plane frequently this does not surprise me at all. I applaud the flight crew and the police for how they handled this situation. A LOT of people feel extremely self important and entitled and have a hair trigger to unleash a tirade if they are reminded that they are not "Special" and that the world does not revolve around them. Follow the rules and directives of the flight crew. If you don't agree with it, go through the proper channels to address it, but don't think that you're more important that a plane full of people and don't be surprised when you get tossed if you act like a jerk.

Let's just say I have a great man who raised me and a sp**m donor.
Pretty crazy, I recall hearing a rumor as a 10 year old, but my brother insisted it was not true.
So I was curious and with all the DNA stuff around I decided what the heck. (Both my parents have passed so I figured there was no one to hurt) Surprise!!
I spoke to my sister who is 8 years older this morning and she seemed relieved that I now know. We think that we know who my birth father was (also deceased), our mother was with him for years, but we are not sure. My mothers sister is the only left that may know.

I was actually thinking you had learned you had a life-threatening disease.......so your post seems like great news in that respect.

Curiously, how was it tested against your deceased father [the one who raised you]. I was adopted, so a DNA test would be useless to me other than to maybe get a better idea of ethnic-type background, I suppose.

FWIW, being an adoptee...I can vouch that the great man who raised you...was your Dad, regardless of what your spit says.

I have a friend who has a long lost half brother that seems to be too old to be his fathers son as the test says.

They tested just mine. It tells just what your ethnic DNA is. My father was German and Ukraine. There was absolutely no eastern European listed at all in what they determined mine to be. (46% Italian, 40% Irish (mother) and the remaining 14% all from Mediterranean region. You are correct he was my father and always will be, and as I told my girls he was your Grandpa, he loved you and that is all that matters.

I did my DNA thing too. Funny, we were always told my mother was 100% Italian, but it came back that I'm 46% Italian. Guess one of her parents has a bit of something else. Lots of Western European in the DNA and come to find out my dad was Scottish and Italian. I bought a DNA test for hubby. Can't wait to get his results. I think it is pretty cool that they can trace that back to your ancestors.

What test did you use, Soccer? I just did the general spit thing and somehow came out more Eastern European than my mother did. Both my parents were first generation Americans born of Polish immigrants. Didn't want to pay more to find out anything deeper, especially all the fatal disease stuff.

There's lots of good articles out there about the "spit" DNA tests and how accurate they are when you aren't comparing yours to another family member. If you're just doing the single DNA sample, the results are all based on interpretation of world population data. This data would be helpful if different ethnic groups have stayed in the same place forever but people move around and mingle. Most of what I read said that different DNA testing companies will give you different results based on their interpretations of the data. So, while it's fun to do, it would take more than that to change my mind about where I come from. You know what I mean?

even if it is true (some do not believe the tests in general) Heritage and DNA do not always go hand in hand as some will get more DNA from one family member than another (and another, and another...) and that messes up the %'s.
