Customer owns her home free and clear and wants to use it as collateral to pay off debt to the Dept. of Revenue and cash back for improvements to her home. Would this be reportable? I think it would be as a refinance, but want to make sure. smile

Why would it be a refinance if it's free and clear? Sounds like home improvement to me, based on the points made by OP.

out of the frying pan...
I agree with Tater.

and I think Randy was trying to point out the conditions under which it would be considered a refinance.

Ok, so it would be a home improvement loan?

Randy rarely makes an error. He probably just mistyped. But FWIW, I agree it's a HI loan (since there is cash our for improvements).

No, I don't think I mistyped, although my response was probably a little cryptic.

I was just trying to point out that refinance was not the correct category. They had already stated that the loan was for home improvement.

The first line of Randy's first post was a lift from the OP's.
The second was the question he had after reading that line.
Randy never uses the quote box or any indication that he's lifting a line from the post he's answering.
Don't worry, you'll get used to his style of writing.

Well, I usually do try and put quotes that I lift in italics, but I failed miserably in this instance. Sorry for the confusion.

Is this better smile

Silly Randy. Why not just use the quote box like the rest of us? It's just four squares to the right of the italics one. grin

Oh! That makes sense now. I thought you were saying it was a refinancing. I knew you knew better and threw grace all over ya! smile
