My 9 year old daughter is having a "Christmas Cookie" party on Saturday (I am crazy for doing this!) and we will have 8 girls at our house to bake and decorate Christmas cookies.

Someone here on BOL gave me a recipe years ago for Velvet Cream Cheese cookies - which ended up being amazing! Of course that recipe is nowhere to be found...

Any other easy recipes? I don't even know how to make basic sugar cookies - I need a recipe for everything! eek

I am really good at following directions, though, so bring it on. grin

Sugar cookies, spritz cookies (I've heard of these but no clue what they are), anyone know how to make oreo balls?

I use the Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix for events like this. It's quick, easy, and tastes pretty good!

The spritz cookies are pretty easy and I made them with my girls this past weekend. But, you have to have the cookie gun thingy that you put dough into and squish it through to make the shapes. I used the Walton spritz recipe that came with the cookie gun.

Ed, she said "Holiday" cookies. I suggest one of these:

For the Oreo truffles, I dump a package of Oreos and a package of cream cheese in the food processor and mix until doughy. Roll into balls and then dip into white almond bark. I let them dry/harden on waxed paper and store in an airtight container.

I was just thinking about that. laugh

The other option is to buy the pre-cut Christmas cookies from Gordon's... Just bake and decorate! Hubby says that's a total cop-out. However, he won't be here, so what does he know!

I do the precut sugar cookies for the grandkids. They love decorating them. I get the frosting in the sqeezable tubes, sprinkles, etc and they have a blast. Then they take home what they decorated.

You can buy the gingerbread man dough already pre-cut as well. All you have to do is bake and preheat. My niece and I did that one year and they were actually quite good.

These are very popular cookies as well and very easy to make!

ALMOND BARK COOKIES

2 lbs white almond bark
2 cups peanut butter (chunky or creamy)
2 cups Rice Krispies cereal
12 oz peanuts (I usually use dry roasted)
2 cups miniature marshmallows

Melt almond bark. Add above ingredients in order given, stirring after each addition. Drop by spoonfuls on wax paper and cool. Makes approximately six dozen cookies.

Tonight I'm dipping double stuf Oreos in white chocolate and drawing snowman faces on them with edible markers. Doing 60 of them for my kid's school parties. Should be fun and pretty easy. Just a little time waiting on the chocolate to harden.

A fellow BOLer shared this delicious recipe with me:

Toffee Cookies!
2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup (1 stick) of butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
8oz bag of Heath Toffee Bits

Bake at 350 for 9-11 minutes or until lightly browned. They don't stay perfectly round because of the toffee, but they are yummy!

Cheat/Quick version:
If you have a prefab cookie mix at home (Krusteaz brand, etc.) then you can just make that mix, add the toffee, and a little brown sugar if you want to, and bake! They are still pretty good if you're in a hurry for a cookie.

Try the Hershey's kisses cookies or Mexican wedding cake cookies. Neither require cutting but both call for sprinkles which kids love to use too.
