Just a friendly reminder that it is time to begin Christmas shopping...since tomorrow is Christmas! See you all at the mall as soon as I leave work!

Happy, are you an over achiever? I'm going tonight at 9:00, if I get ambitious. Otherwise, there's a gas station down the street from my house that never closes. I'm good wink

Merry Christmas, y'all!

I feel such a failure to manhood.

I'm famous around the house for shopping on Christmas Eve, wrapping the presents until the wee hours.

I've had it all done for weeks. Well ... just finished wrapping this weekend. Internet shopping has ruined me.

I went to a very exclusive jewelery store and bought something for my wife this past Sunday. I looked on their website later at the item I bought and sure enough, I had picked out the most expensive piece of that type that they had to offer. My Mom always used to joke that I would always pick the most expensive one of something in any store I went into...apparantly she was right...

For all you know, it's the most expensive jewel-encrusted roach!

At first the sales person thought he said broach, but in the end, they just grabbed a hot glue gun, went to the mall food court for a roach, and went to town!

Don't forget Wendy's, McD' gift certificates, gas cards, chap stick, gum, all make great stocking stuffers.

My ex-husband has a few memorable Christmas gifts. He gave me a picture off the Internet and told me I could order it myself. Another year he gave me hand written gift certificates. One was for $200 to a local jewelry store to pick out my own 3-stone necklace. Well, if you wanted to see the stones, you would need to spend more than $200! The second was for a CD of my favorite songs from Earth, Wind and Fire. Ya.....still waiting on that to be made. That was back in 2005 or so and we have been divorced for almost 4 years. I think I can write that one off my list. But my favorite is the year that no one thought to put anything in Mom's stocking. Everyone else had great items and there was nothing in mine. Should have seen the "oops" look on his face.

My husband and I have learned to bypass the whole "give each other gifts" at Christmas thing. Now we just get something we want for the house or for the family. This year, we got a new table for behind the couch. (I know, so festive, right?)

We go all out for each other on Mother's Day and Father's Day, instead.

You could always do teh George Castanza thing.

Instead of a gift, youget a card that states, "I have made a donation to the Human Fund on your behalf." laugh

One year my husband got me NOTHING for Christmas. Not even a hand written gift certificate that never materialized. He will not make that mistake again although I almost never have anything in my stocking. That doesn't bother me. We go all out on Christmas gifts but usually don't give any gifts for our wedding anniversary which is in early January.

After my daughter went to college, she started buying gifts for her dad to give to me. She had seen too many failures. Oh...and he started giving to the "Human Fund"...I just wasn't the Human he was funding. Hence the divorce!

QM, my ex was almost just as bad. One year I bought him a new guitar. He gave me an ugly flannel mumu-style night gown from Walmart that probably cost about $12. I wasn't even fat then!!!! mad

Pulling people out of the ditc...
honestly, the whole "this is what I got for Christmas" to me is absurd...I don't "need" anything...MsGilmore already buys herself whatever she wants throughout the year...i'd rather my kids wash my car or cut my grass once, that would go a lot further than spending money on me they don't need to spend...if MsGilmore has something specific in mind, she better tell me what it is, where to buy it, and the color/size/whatever...otherwise, I buy something for her that likely is nothing she wants...

not a scrooge at all, I love Christmas, but to me it is more about spending time with family...way too often people judge their worth by what they give and/or receive...
