I went to the movie this past weekend. It was so intense I left with a headache. But what struck me the most, was the audience. It was an almost sold out showing and when it was over, people did not just get up and start chattering about what they were going to do next. There was dead silence in the theater as we all filed out.

We finally went and saw the movie last night and we had the same reaction as others. You could hear a pin drop in the theater even as everyone was leaving. We went to dinner afterward and I swear it took us awhile to even begin discussing the movie. I personally think Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper did him and his family proud.

We saw it yesterday afternoon and the same thing happened. The sold-out theater was dead quiet, then some people applauded, but then everyone walked out in silence. It was like leaving a funeral.

Maybe the reaction is partly because we are realizing how much we've asked from our finest young people, and how little they've gotten in return.

We also went to see it this past weekend and as stated above complete silence at the end. I thought Bradley Cooper did a great job and of course Clint is the best. I have to say that all of the nay sayers who have expressed their opinion on social media in the past week. Please thank Chris Kyle and all of the other fine men and women of the military for your freedom to do so!

OK
I had not read the book and had not read about his story or how he died. So the movie really hit me. I was not ready for the end to happen the way it did. Not only do we need to thank the brave that serve our country, but their families for giving up what we take for granted everyday. I can't imagine living every day in fear that my loved one would not be coming back home.

Jury selection for the guy accused of killing Kyle is set to start in the next two weeks. Over 800 juror summons have been sent and a change of venue denied. Defense feels movie has adversely affected the jury pool. And they've already stated they will claim PTSD/temporary insanity. There was a clip of Mrs Kyle this morning stating she doesn't buy the PTSD defense.

We saw the movie this weekend also. One of the best movies I've seen. Like Summer Nights said, it took us a while to process it before Hubs and I discussed the movie.

I saw the movie this weekend too. They definitely deserve some awards. It is very humbling experience. As others mentioned, there was complete silence as the movie ended.

Saw the movie this last weekend, really moving. And as stated above many times, everyone stayed to watch the credits that played during the footage from real life and was complete silence afterward when exiting the theater. What a sacrifice so many make for our freedom and it is not appreciated by all - so sad.

I may go see it this weekend. Those criticizing snipers don't get it. These people save civilian as well as coalition lives.

there is no attempt to get it...if you oppose all war, anything that is involved is bad...

certain critics may want to choose to start opposing all forms of sugar and carbs, otherwise they won't be around much longer to thrill us with their wisdom

If you have not seen this movie - go.
If you want to learn a bit more of what it's like to be the military family left behind - go.
If you want to see a brief look at the terror that PTSD can bring - go.

If you oppose war and want to see what our soldiers live through - go.

My experience was like so many others. NO ONE left the theater until the credits were over. I was sobbing. And the theater cleared out in silence.

I agree with QCL, totally worth it.

It has left me wanting to know more about Chris Kyle. He definitely gave up a lot to serve his country and then fellow vets.

You have to admire Clint Eastwood. The guy is 84 and still turning out top quality work. How many people do some of their best work at that age?
