Uh oh! http://www.forbes.com/sites/kellyphillip...artner=yahootixFor those of you blocked, Turbo Tax is having to suspend efiling temporarily due to a possible security breach.

I use that two and the state of MN has just suspended receiving filings from turbotax. I guess I will have to use something else this year

I started using Tax Act a couple of years ago. I'll be doing ours soon.

HR Block didn't forward our payment last year so we got hit with a penalty. Then they wouldn't answer our phone calls or emails. Husband finally decided it (thankfully) wasn't that much that it was worth the aggravation so he let it go. We had this exact issue. It's been 14 years ago. But I still won't go back to them.

I've used the HR Block software for several years, even worked for them in college. ::knock, knock:: I've never had any issues. I hope they don't start now.

Filed with Turbo Tax on Monday, and received the message that it was received and accepted by the IRS as well. But, we just do federal taxes, and the breech was on state taxes efiling.

I really liked the old Kiplinger Tax Cut program before H&R Blockheads bought them.
Of course the bank gives away the Turbo Tax, but I just never gave it a try.

I have been letting a service do mine for 10 years now and I always think I will go back to doing it myself but I just end up thinking it is not worth the stress year after year.
Have not made up my mind yet this year.

Already have my refund, at least for federal. Used H&R with no problems.

I was thinking using Turbo Tax but I have been having a firm do it the last few years since the first time homebuyers tax credit we received. I think I will try Tax Act next year.

To add insult to injury; during an NHL game on Saturday the announcers were doing an ad spot for their sponsers, TurboTax being one, and hackers accessed the teleprompter system and changed their slogan to "TurboTax, isn't it amazing what hackers can do." Clips can be found on Youtube.

Did both federal and local taxes yesterday with Tax Act. The federal was accepted within 5 minutes, the state about an hour later. Those programs are great, but you really need to watch and have some idea what you are doing. We had a 1099R for a 401k rollover that I knew I needed to enter. When the questionnaire asked if there were any rollovers or distributions from retirement funds I clicked yes but it never prompted me to enter the information. I kept thinking it would pop up but it never did. I went through the questionnaire 3 times to see if it would prompt me and it never did. I had to manually look up the input for that form.

The problem only affects state returns, doesn't it?
