Any relation to Jeff Beck? I think Hap expressed some opinion of this group winning and the reappearance of Mr. West - he summed it up nicely.

well, he does have a brother, so I suppose the answer is yes, even if it is not the Hansen brother you are looking for

I was also curious about this album because of what happened at the Grammys - so I went on you tube to listen to some of the music. Sorry QCL, I couldn't make it through the first song. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just not my cup of tea. I also can't or won't say it wasn't deserving of the award, as I didn't listen to any of the other albums nominated.
It was funny that my 15 year old daughter complained about this "new, unknown guy named Beck" winning the award. He's been around for a while, and I do like his song "Loser" (which I'm pretty sure is older than my daughter).

I don't think that Kanye realizes that whenever he gives his opinion, that most people will quickly dismiss his opinion because 1) he is married to a Kardashian and 2) he is Kanye West.

I saw Beck a few years ago when he opened for the Rolling Stones. He gave a pretty cool performance of "Where its at" using a fully set kitchen table as instruments.
I was one of the younger ones at the concert and a few older folks around me turned around and wanted to know who Beck was.

This reminds me of all the kids that don't know who Paul McCartney is and said he needed to thank Kanye and Rianna for making him famous.

Much more nicely put that I would have done. As for Paul McCartney thanking Riana, how sad that today's youth know so little history of the world of music. None of today's singer/songwriters are leaving the kind of mark that the Beatles, Stones, or even Michael Jackson have made.

(but I will agree most is not listenable)

I am trying to expose my daughter to as many musical artists as I can. I sing Rolling Stones to her at bedtime as lullaby’s.

I sing Rolling Stones to her at bedtime as lullaby’s. you must really hate your daughter to subject her to that torture... one of the most over-rated bands in the history of music...hey, mick, when I accidentally hear on of your screeching tunes, I don't get any satisfaction either...and i've tried...

I can't see myself singing Honky Tonk Woman, Paint it Black, Sympathy for the Devil, Satisfaction or You Can't Always get What You Want to my grandaughter!!!! I am more of a Van Morrison kind of guy.....

I sing You Can't Always Get What You Want. I think it is especially fitting when she is fighting sleep.

Beck has been performing for close to 25 years, so not sure I would classify him as "new" music. he has published 12 albums since 1993...
much of his early airplay was through college and indie stations, and that is still a huge portion of his following. he is one of these musical savants that can play a ton of instruments...seems to be more concerned with meeting his own criteria rather than just making money

I listened on You Tube yesterday. It seems rather mellow. Nice. But I would have to be in a mellow mood....
